The Cotorra is named after the Hispaniolan Parrot, an endemic bird to the island of Hispaniola known for its intelligence, playfulness, and the luscious mountain forests it inhabits.
As a survival knife, it's designed to be no less compact than a standard companion belt knife but it is much more sturdy, designed to withstand heavy duty tasks deep into the wilderness for days on end thanks to its convex edge geometry. The handle is shaped to make the knife safe to use and comfortable over long periods of time with endless handle material options for custom orders.
"I originally designed the Cotorra to be a safer bushcraft knife when compared to the Cigua Bushcrafter, making a larger handle by adding more material between the user's grip and the cutting edge as well as an artificial bolster to protect the hand from sliding into the edge. I did find however that the longer knife altogether was slightly better chopping tasks thanks to the increased leverage on the edge from the extended handle; the same benefits go into batoning, prying (which is a bad idea universally, but people still do it), and other heavy duty tasks. Some of the precision of the Bushcrafter is lost though, so I tweaked the design further to make it an all out "survival knife" such as crafting it off a thicker stock of steel at around 4mm (~5/32 inch)."
